BUILDABLE
REHABILITATION & RECOVERY
Canada's only nurse-managed construction company merges clinical expertise, accessible design, and exceptional craftsmanship to create spaces that support rehabilitation - and adapt to changing abilities.

Supporting recovery. Restoring independence.
Reimagining what's possible at home.

An injury, accident, stroke, or sudden change in health can transform everyday life - often without warning. Activities that once felt effortless may become challenging, and a home that once worked perfectly may no longer meet your needs.
Whether you're preparing to return home from hospital, navigating a new disability, or adjusting to life after a significant medical event, our team is here to help make sure your home supports your needs - and goals.
Sean and his team did a fantastic job on our bathroom renovation. The service he and his team provides to people with special needs is invaluable. It is rare to find contractors with experience in this area to offer up ideas that we hadn't considered, taking into account all of our current (and future) needs. While we had some delays due to supply issues, the overall work was minimally disruptive. The team was on time and left our home clean each day. BuildAble was truly a pleasure to work with and I would not hesitate to use them again. Thank you for delivering quality service with compassion.

From Hospital to Home: Bridging the Gap
Returning home following hospitalization or rehabilitation is an important milestone.
We collaborate with your occupational therapist, PTs, discharge planners, case managers, and families. Our nurse-led accessibility team then helps to bridge the gap between clinical recommendations and your home renovation.
Our goal is to help make the transition home safer, smoother, and more sustainable — while supporting the independence, dignity, and quality of life of the person recovering.

Renovations That Support Your Road Home
Recovery looks different for everyone. For some, it means rebuilding strength and mobility following surgery or injury. For others, it involves adapting to permanent changes in physical function, mobility, or independence.

We design and renovate homes to accommodate a wide range of rehabilitation and recovery needs, including:
-
Stroke recovery: Modifications that support changes in mobility, balance, strength, and everyday functioning.
-
Spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries: Accessible living spaces designed around individual mobility, cognitive, and functional needs.
-
Accidents and ortho injuries: Home adaptations following fractures, falls, motor vehicle accidents, or major surgeries.
-
Amputations and limb differences: Customized spaces that support mobility devices, transfers, and daily activities.
-
Neurological conditions: Adaptable home environments for individuals experiencing changes in strength, coordination, balance, or mobility.
-
Complex rehabilitation needs: Thoughtfully designed spaces that accommodate caregivers, assistive equipment, and evolving care requirements.
Our bathroom renovation looks beautiful. We are very pleased with the tiles, hardware and especially the workmanship on the roll-in shower. We appreciated our consultations with Sean MacGinnis (owner) who was professional, flexible and so kind. Marcus, the lead on this project, was a very good fit for us. It was a pleasure having such a skilled and respectful young man in our home. In fact, the whole team was exemplary. Thank you for leaving us with a lovely, functional and safe bathroom.

Designed for Today.
Adaptable for Tomorrow.
Rehabilitation is rarely a straight line. Abilities, goals, and support needs may change throughout the recovery process.

That's why we look beyond immediate accessibility challenges to consider how a home can continue supporting its occupants over time.

Whether modifications are intended to support a temporary recovery period or long-term accessibility, our approach prioritizes flexibility, functionality, and thoughtful design.
And because accessibility should never mean compromising on aesthetics, we create beautiful, welcoming spaces that feel like home — not a healthcare facility.
